Web hosting review

WPX Hosting

WPX Hosting is a managed WordPress and WooCommerce host. Its site clearly explains prices per term, tax rules, refunds, backups, support hours and its three data centres. Harder to pin down were a public status page, which company you sign with, and limits for the plans sold with unlimited visitors and bandwidth.

Price over time

No intro price, so nothing jumps at renewal

WPX shows one price per plan for each term, with no separate renewal price; longer prepaid terms of 1 to 5 years cost less per month. A promo code gives 79% off the first month on monthly plans. What we found

Each finding links to the WPX page it came from. Prices are the US-dollar prices on wpx.net, without tax, which the pricing FAQ and terms say is added based on where you are.

An AI read WPX Hosting's public pages to write these findings. When something is partly clear or not seen, it may be explained on a page we didn't read, or our scan may have missed it.
Price

Honest pricing

Clear · 10 pts

WPX shows one price per plan for each billing term, with no separate renewal price. Starter is $17.99/mo on monthly billing, $14.99/mo prepaid for 1 year ($179.90) and $11.99/mo prepaid for 5 years ($719.60). The pricing FAQ says prices exclude tax: EU individuals pay their country's VAT, EU companies with a VAT number pay 0%, and US accounts may pay state sales tax. A promo code gives 79% off the first month on monthly WordPress plans, and the terms say promotions renew at the ordinary fee. A Price Lock help article keeps the price for the initial term, while the terms allow fee changes at any time without a stated notice period.

People

Who runs it

Partly clear · 5 pts

The contact page names K Media Tech, the owner of WPX, with headquarters at #13, 20th April Street, Sofia 1000, Bulgaria, and the number BG 202249002. The data processing agreement gives the same number as UIC 202249002 for "K MEDIA TECH" Ltd, with a different Sofia address. The terms name K Media Tech, LLC and are governed by Texas law, with courts in Dallas County, while the footer says K Media Tech OOD. The Why WPX page says the company was founded in 2013 by Terry Kyle and Georgi Petrov, who own all of it. We couldn't tell from these pages which of the named companies you sign with.

Problems

Uptime in public

Not seen · 0 pts

We didn't see a public status page or a list of past incidents on the pages we read, and none is linked in the header or footer. We didn't see an uptime promise or SLA credits either. The terms say WPX doesn't promise the service will be uninterrupted, and that it may change or stop the service with or without notice. A help article on Uptime Robot discusses false alerts from outside monitoring tools.

People

Reachable support

Clear · 10 pts

Technical support works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays, by live chat and support tickets. The support limits article says chat agents help within 30 seconds, and the homepage gives an average 30-second response time. Other WPX teams work Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 18:00 (GMT+3), and escalated requests follow their hours. The contact page also lists support@wpx.net. We didn't see a phone number for support.

Price

Fair terms

Clear · 10 pts

All hosting plans have a 30-day money-back guarantee for purchases over $5 excluding VAT. On monthly plans only the first payment is refundable, and after 30 days the refund policy says refunds aren't available. Renewals, domain purchases and billing-cycle changes aren't refundable. Plans renew automatically, and you cancel with a cancellation request in the Client Area; PayPal subscriptions also need closing in PayPal. Accounts ended for reasons such as malware or excessive resource use are not refunded.

Data

Backups you can use

Clear · 10 pts

Every plan includes daily automatic backups, kept for 28 days on separate servers. You restore one yourself in the Control Panel by picking a date; we didn't see a fee for restoring. You can also make one personal backup per site, of files, database or both, which you can download and which is deleted after 24 hours. The terms say automatic backups can't be downloaded and only restore to the same site, and that you should keep your own copies. Backups of closed accounts are kept for up to 90 days.

Data

Security basics

Clear · 10 pts

All sites get free Let's Encrypt SSL certificates. Two-factor login for the WPX account works with an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Authy, or with codes by email, and comes with recovery codes. Sites are scanned for malware every day, and the plan list includes malware scans with free removal. Servers run a ModSecurity web application firewall, with brute-force and hybrid DDoS protection.

Data

Data location

Clear · 10 pts

A help article names three data centres: Chicago in the USA, London in the UK for Europe, and Sydney in Australia for Asia-Pacific. The pricing page asks you to choose the location closest to your visitors; we didn't see whether you can move later. A data processing agreement under GDPR Article 28 names "K MEDIA TECH" Ltd in Bulgaria as processor, but says it applies only when WPX has to access personal data. The privacy policy, updated 3 Aug 2026, says customers don't need a DPA with WPX. The terms say backups may be stored in other countries or continents.

Real specs

Plan tables list websites, storage, bandwidth, RAM, CPU cores and PHP workers as numbers. Starter has 1 site, 10 GB storage, 100 GB bandwidth, 3 GB RAM, 0.5 CPU core and 9 PHP workers. Every plan lists unlimited visitors, and Elite, Agency, Superstore and Hyperstore list unlimited bandwidth. The terms say a reasonable-use limit applies at WPX's discretion, without a number. A help article says CPU is sampled every second and only use that stays too high for 24 hours is looked at.

Easy exit

Clear · 10 pts

You can create and download a full personal backup of a site's files and database in the Control Panel, and reach your files over FTP or SFTP and your database in phpMyAdmin. SSH isn't offered. To move a domain away, you turn off Domain Lock and view the EPP key yourself in the Control Panel; we didn't see a fee for this. The refund policy asks you to back up your site before closing, because WPX can't retrieve data after the account is closed.

Tech stack

Best for WordPress and WooCommerce sites

Hosts are built for different kinds of sites. Here is what WPX says it runs, and on which plans. Tech fit is separate from the signal score.

Best fit: tools built for it on regular plansSupported: runs on some plans, with limitsVPS plans: you set it up yourself on a serverNot offered: look at another host

WordPress

Best fit

Every plan is managed WordPress hosting on LiteSpeed web servers with MariaDB, with a staging area, daily backups, free migrations within 24 hours and the WPX XDN content delivery network. You manage sites in WPX's own control panel, with FTP, SFTP and phpMyAdmin but no SSH.

Plans: All WordPress plans, from Starter

WooCommerce

Best fit

Three WooCommerce plans, Powerstore, Superstore and Hyperstore, come with more memory and CPU per site and Redis cache. Powerstore is $34.99/mo on monthly billing with 1 site, 20 GB storage, 8 GB RAM and 2 CPU cores.

Plans: Powerstore, Superstore, Hyperstore

PHP

Supported

PHP 7.4 to 8.5 are supported and chosen per site in the Control Panel, with older versions on request. Each site has its own public_html folder for uploading custom scripts and files. We didn't see the site say whether other PHP apps besides WordPress are supported.

Plans: All plans, alongside WordPress

Node.js, Python, Docker & static sites

Not offered

We didn't see Node.js, Python, Docker or static site hosting on the pages we read. WPX doesn't offer SSH or root access, and its help articles describe WordPress and WooCommerce sites only.

Sales practices

Worth a closer look

We check five common sales practices and note them next to the score, without changing it. Two need a pass through checkout, which this scan didn't do. We'll add them on the next recheck.

  • Noticed
"Unlimited" without a stated limit. Every plan lists unlimited visitors, and four larger plans list unlimited bandwidth. The terms say a reasonable-use limit applies at WPX's discretion, but give no number. It may be published somewhere we didn't look.
  • Not checked yet
Add-ons ticked for you at checkout. This scan didn't go through checkout. We didn't see add-ons on the plan pages we read.
  • Not checked yet
Prices that change at the payment step. Listed prices exclude tax, which depends on where you are. A promo code for 79% off the first month is applied at checkout. We didn't check the final checkout total.
  • Not noticed
Countdown timers that reset. No timers on the pages we read. A banner across the site offers the first-month promo code, without an end date.
  • Noticed
Reviews with no source. The client reviews page lists about 50 customers by name and website, without review text, dates or links to a review site. Its headline quote is credited to "Jeff S" without a source. The page also links to WPX's Trustpilot and G2 pages.

Questions to ask WPX Hosting

Each partly clear or unseen signal leaves a question that the website didn't answer for us. WPX Hosting's support can probably answer them before you buy.
