Web hosting review

VentraIP

VentraIP explains its support channels and response times, refund and cancellation rules, backup schedule, status history and how to take your site with you clearly. A few things were harder to pin down from the website alone: a registered address, which data centre a shared plan runs in, whether a GDPR agreement is offered, and limits for items listed as unlimited. Plan pages show a crossed-out regular price next to each discounted price, but don't call it the renewal price.

Price over time

The regular price is 2 times the first-year price

Plan cards show a crossed-out "was" price next to each discounted price. The footnote says the discount covers the first invoice of a new hosting purchase, for up to 1 year, so the full first year at this price likely needs a yearly payment; the page doesn't call the crossed-out price the renewal price. Monthly prices in Australian dollars from ventraip.com.au/web-hosting/business-hosting and /web-hosting/wordpress-hosting on 21 Oct 2026. The terms say published prices include government taxes unless noted.

Assumes the crossed-out $11.00/mo regular price for the second year, and a first invoice covering 12 months. On monthly billing the footnote suggests the discount covers only the first invoice. Actual prices and terms may change.

What we found

Each finding links to the VentraIP page it came from. Prices are the Australian-dollar prices on ventraip.com.au, which the terms say include government taxes such as GST unless noted.

An AI read VentraIP's public pages to write these findings. When something is partly clear or not seen, it may be explained on a page we didn't read, or our scan may have missed it.

Honest pricing

Partly clear · 5 pts

Plan cards show a discounted price next to a crossed-out "was" price, with a "SAVE 50%" label. Business Hosting Entry is $5.50/mo, was $11.00/mo, and WordPress Hosting is $9.25/mo, was $18.50/mo. The footnote says the discount "applies to the first invoice of new hosting purchases for up to 1 year only", but the page doesn't call the crossed-out price the renewal price. There is a Pay Monthly and Pay Yearly switch, and we didn't see the yearly prices. The plan pages don't mention GST; the terms say published prices include government taxes unless otherwise noted.

The terms and customer service policy name Nexigen Digital Pty Ltd t/a VentraIP, ACN 137 543 018, and the About page gives ABN 91 137 543 018. The About page says VentraIP was founded on 12 December 2008 by two co-founders who are co-CEOs, and that Nexigen Digital became the parent brand in 2020. It names offices in Narre Warren, Victoria and Southport, Queensland, and the terms are governed by Victorian law. We didn't see a registered office or postal address on the pages we read.

Problems

Uptime in public

Clear · 10 pts

A public status page tracks the network, VPS, shared hosting and the support centre. It said "All systems are go!" when we looked, and lists past notices with times, such as emergency maintenance on two shared servers on 19 Oct 2026 and an unplanned outage with HTTP 503 errors on 23 Sep 2026, plus monthly history pages going back to October 2023. The SLA aims for 100% availability and gives account credits from 15% to 100% of the monthly fee when shared cPanel hosting or Fully Managed VPS drops below 99.9%. You claim the credit in VIPcontrol, and maintenance announced on the status page is excluded.

Reachable support

Clear · 10 pts

You can reach support by phone on 13 24 85, live chat, email and eTicket in VIPcontrol. The customer service policy says technical eTickets and emails should be answered within 24 hours, sales and billing within two business days, and escalations within three business days. The contact page gives phone hours of 8AM to 10PM, 7 days a week, while the same page and the hosting pages also say support is available 24/7. The policy adds that the Customer Care team isn't available by phone.

Price

Fair terms

Clear · 10 pts

Shared cPanel hosting, reseller hosting, email hosting and VPS get a full refund, to account credit or the original payment method, if you ask within 45 days of ordering. After 45 days the terms give a pro rata refund to account credit only. Domains, SSL certificates, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, software licences and marketing services aren't refundable once set up. Services run month to month and renew automatically until you cancel, which you can only do in VIPcontrol. The terms say changes take effect when published on the website.

Data

Backups you can use

Clear · 10 pts

Entry, Growth, Professional and Select hosting keep hourly backups for the past 12 hours, daily backups for 3 days, weekly backups for 4 weeks and one monthly backup, stored on a separate server. You restore files yourself with the Acronis Backup tool in cPanel, and you can make and download a full backup with the cPanel Backup Wizard. The terms say having VentraIP supply backup data costs $49.95 per service, unless the need is VentraIP's fault. VPS plans don't include automated backups; Acronis backups every 6 hours are an add-on from $54.95/mo.

Data

Security basics

Clear · 10 pts

Shared hosting plans include a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate. The VIPcontrol account supports two-factor login by email, app or text message, with a form to fill in if you lose your device; we didn't see backup codes. Business Hosting lists Monarx anti-virus protection and mod_security rules, and WordPress Hosting lists ImunifyAV code protection. Both list a Fortinet hardware firewall.

Data

Data location

Partly clear · 5 pts

The privacy policy says the infrastructure runs in NEXTDC Tier IV data centres in Melbourne and Sydney, and that customer data is stored in Australia. Shared plan specs list Sydney as the server location, and the VPS pages say all VPS products on the new platform are in Sydney. We didn't see whether you can choose a location. The privacy policy follows Australian privacy law and says some third-party providers may be outside Australia; we didn't see a GDPR data processing agreement or a sub-processor list.

Business Hosting lists numbers per plan: Entry has 5 GB storage, a 100% CPU limit, 1024 MB memory, 50 entry processes, 8 MB/s I/O and 300,000 inodes. Professional has 25 GB, 300% CPU and 4096 MB memory. Databases, email accounts, addon domains, parked domains and subdomains are listed as unlimited, with no number given, and bandwidth is "unmetered". The Acceptable Use Policy says CloudLinux limits apply and sites show a 503 error while over them. We couldn't read the VPS plan cards, so we didn't see VPS vCPU, memory or prices.

A help article shows how to make a full backup with the cPanel Backup Wizard and download it yourself. To move a domain, you copy the EPP code in VIPcontrol under the domain's Security settings, after unlocking the domain and waiting out 60 days from registration. If you ask VentraIP for a copy of your data instead, the terms list $49.95 per active service, or $199.95 after suspension or termination. We didn't see a fee for transferring a domain away.

What you get per plan

These numbers come from the Business Hosting page. CPU is given as a percentage limit, not as cores. Several items are listed as unlimited without a number. Bars compare each row against the largest plan.

Tech stack

Best for WordPress and PHP sites

Hosts are built for different kinds of sites. Here is what VentraIP says it runs, and on which plans. Tech fit is separate from the signal score.

Best fit: tools built for it on regular plansSupported: runs on some plans, with limitsVPS plans: you set it up yourself on a server

WordPress

Best fit

WordPress Hosting is one plan you can scale with a slider: 10 GB storage, 200% CPU and 2048 MB memory, on LiteSpeed with LiteSpeed Cache. It uses cPanel's WordPress Toolkit, with staging and cloning, ImunifyAV and free migrations.

Plans: WordPress Hosting; WordPress also runs on Business Hosting

PHP

Best fit

Shared cPanel hosting offers PHP 5.1 to 8.5, and the help article notes that versions before 8.2 no longer get security updates. SSH and SFTP are off by default; you turn them on in VIPcontrol for whitelisted IP addresses, on port 2683. Git Version Control is available in cPanel.

Plans: All shared cPanel plans

Node.js

Supported

A help article shows how to set up a Node.js app with the Setup Node.js App tool in cPanel, picking a version from a list. It calls itself an advanced guide and says managing the app's environment needs SSH. It doesn't name which plans include the tool.

Plans: cPanel hosting; plans not named

Python

Supported

Python apps run through cPanel's Setup Python App tool, which uses Phusion Passenger. You pick a Python version when you create the app. The help article says technical support doesn't cover installing or managing the app itself, and we didn't see a Django or Flask guide.

Plans: cPanel hosting; plans not named

Docker & containers

VPS plans

We didn't see Docker mentioned. Self-managed VPS plans give root access to a Linux server in Sydney from day one, and the FAQ says Windows isn't offered yet. Shared hosting doesn't allow server daemons, per the Acceptable Use Policy.

Plans: Self-managed VPS

Sales practices

Worth a closer look

We check five common sales practices and note them next to the score, without changing it. Two need a pass through checkout, which this scan didn't do. We'll add them on the next recheck.

  • Noticed
"Unlimited" without a stated limit. Business Hosting lists unlimited databases, email accounts, addon, parked and subdomains, and unmetered bandwidth, without a number. The Acceptable Use Policy sets CloudLinux limits for CPU, memory and files, and an hourly email limit.
  • Not checked yet
Add-ons ticked for you at checkout. This scan didn't go through checkout.
  • Not checked yet
Prices that change at the payment step. The terms say published prices include government taxes unless noted. We didn't check the final checkout total.
  • Not noticed
Countdown timers that reset. No timers on the pages we read. Plan cards carry "SAVE 50%" labels and crossed-out prices, and domain prices carry an "online sale" banner, without an end date.
  • Not noticed
Reviews with no source. Customer quotes carry a first name and a badge that links to VentraIP's Google or ProductReview listing, without dates. Ratings are shown with their platform and review count. A competitor comparison is marked "Comparison based on 07/10/2026".
