Web hosting review

one.com

one.com names the Swedish company you sign with, keeps a public status page with incident history, and clearly explains support, refunds, backups, data location in Denmark and how to take your site and domain with you. Some things were harder to pin down: plan prices didn't load for our reader, so we couldn't compare intro and renewal prices, CPU is shown only as a priority level, and traffic is listed as unlimited. Several help articles still describe older plans such as Beginner and Guru.

What we found

Each finding links to the one.com page it came from. Plan prices didn't load for our reader on one.com's English pages (en-us and en-gb), so this page shows no plan prices. The domain price list is in US dollars and we didn't see a VAT basis.

An AI read one.com's public pages to write these findings. When something is partly clear or not seen, it may be explained on a page we didn't read, or our scan may have missed it.
Price

Honest pricing

Partly clear · 5 pts

On one.com's English hosting, WordPress and VPS pages, the plan cards showed only "…/mo." placeholders for our reader, so we couldn't see intro or renewal prices. A hosting FAQ says "After any intro period, your plan renews at the standard rate", and the terms say web space is paid upfront for 12 months. The terms allow price changes at 45 days' notice, and a help article says customers hear about price changes at least 60 days before a new period. The US-dollar domain price list shows both prices, such as .com at $12.99 for the first year and $27.99 at renewal. We didn't see whether prices include VAT.

Who runs it

Clear · 10 pts

The Impressum names One.com Group AB, Carlsgatan 3, 211 20 Malmö, Sweden, with commercial registration number 559205-2400 and VAT number SE559205240001. The terms (v.17, in effect from 9 April 2024) name the same company and number as the contracting party, and say disputes go to the Danish courts under Danish law. The About page says one.com was founded in Denmark in 2002 as b-one.net, now has its headquarters in Malmö, and is part of group.one. The privacy notice names the same company as data controller.

Problems

Uptime in public

Clear · 10 pts

status.one.com lists 15 components, such as Webhosting, VPS, Databases and Mail services, with their current status and scheduled maintenance. It shows past incidents day by day, such as "Issues with website access", resolved on 7 Oct 2026, and offers email, RSS and Atom updates. We didn't see uptime percentages on it. The hosting page promises 99.9% uptime and Managed Cloud Servers list a 99.99% guarantee, while the terms say one.com isn't liable for losses from interruptions. We didn't see service credits.

People

Reachable support

Clear · 10 pts

The contact page says support teams are there 24/7, and calls chat "the quickest way to get in touch, every day of the year". Email goes through a help centre form, with an automatic confirmation within five minutes and a reply usually within 24 hours, per the customer service policy. Customer Care escalations at service@one.com aim for a solution within two working days. The help centre lists a UK phone line, +44 20 8106 0910, on weekdays from 10:00 to 14:00 UTC, while the contact page doesn't list a phone number.

Price

Fair terms

Clear · 10 pts

The hosting page offers a 15-day money-back guarantee on new hosting orders, excluding domain registration fees and certain add-ons. In the terms, the 15-day guarantee sits in the add-on section, and Microsoft Exchange and Google Ads are excluded. Web space is paid for 12 months and renews automatically unless you cancel at least 30 days before the period ends, in the Control Panel under My account, My products, where you can also undo a cancellation. The terms say the unused part of an advance payment isn't refunded, unless one.com ends the service or makes significant changes. The 14-day consumer withdrawal right ends once one.com starts processing the order.

Data

Backups you can use

Clear · 10 pts

Web space, databases and email are backed up daily and kept for up to 14 days, per the help center; Microsoft Exchange mail is kept for 30 days. The new plans article lists 7 days of backups for Starter, and 14 days with restore included for Professional, Business and Max. On a plan without restore you can view backups, but restoring means adding Backup & Restore, charged for the remaining months of the period; we didn't see that price. Restores are self-service in the Control Panel, and you can download a backup to your computer. The backup help article still uses older plan names, such as Enthusiast.

Data

Security basics

Clear · 10 pts

The new hosting plans include SSL certificates, DDoS protection, a web application firewall and DNSSEC. The Control Panel supports two-step login with the one.com Companion app or Google Authenticator; we didn't see backup codes, and if you lose access you send a signed form with ID. The SiteLock page says one.com offers basic malware scanning to all customers, with SiteLock Find and Fix as paid upgrades, and SiteLock Find is listed on the Max WordPress plan. Managed WordPress adds vulnerability monitoring with security auto-patches.

Data

Data location

Clear · 10 pts

The GDPR help article says data of customers in the EU is hosted in one.com's data centres in Denmark, and the privacy notice says its servers are in Denmark. The DPA names the data centre in Copenhagen, run by Global Connect, with Digital Realty in Denmark for backups and Envia TEL in Germany for unmanaged VPS. The DPA is part of the main agreement, so there's nothing extra to sign, and it lists sub-processors by product, including some in the US and India. We didn't see an option to choose a location.

Real specs

Partly clear · 5 pts

Hosting plans list RAM, storage, websites, databases and PHP workers as numbers: Starter has 1 GB RAM, 25 GB SSD, 1 website, 2 databases and 4 PHP workers. CPU is given as a priority level, from 1x to 4x, not as cores. Data traffic is "unlimited" on every plan; the fair use policy sets no traffic limit, and the terms let one.com close a web space for excessive traffic. Managed Cloud Servers list vCPUs, RAM and NVMe storage, from S with 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM and 100 GB.

Clear · 10 pts

Help articles show how to download your whole web space over SFTP and export a database as a file through phpMyAdmin, and backups can be downloaded from Backup & Restore. To move a domain, you choose Get Auth-ID in the Control Panel and the code goes to the registrant email; .uk domains use an IPS tag change through support. We didn't see a fee for moving a domain away, and the article says a transfer can take up to ten days. Moving a domain doesn't cancel the subscription, and the terms say website and mail data are generally deleted seven days after a subscription ends.

What you get per plan

These numbers come from one.com's help article on its new hosting plans, which match the plan table on the hosting page. CPU is listed as a priority level, not as cores. Bars compare each row against the largest plan.

Tech stack

Best for WordPress and PHP sites

Hosts are built for different kinds of sites. Here is what one.com says it runs, and on which plans. Tech fit is separate from the signal score.

Best fit: tools built for it on regular plansSupported: runs on some plans, with limitsVPS plans: you set it up yourself on a server

WordPress

Best fit

Every hosting plan has a 1-click WordPress install. Managed WordPress plans add automatic updates with visual checks and rollback, a staging copy of your site, vulnerability monitoring with auto-patches, and a free expert migration of one site. Max also includes SiteLock Find.

Plans: All hosting plans; Managed WordPress from Starter

PHP

Best fit

Hosting plans run PHP 8.x with 4 to 16 PHP workers, and you switch the version per domain in the Control Panel. Running an expired version turns on PHP Extended Support, a paid add-on whose price we didn't see. SSH is now on every plan, and the SSH guide lists Git, mysqldump and rsync.

VPS plans

We didn't see Node.js on the hosting pages we read. The VPS getting-started guide lists Node.js as something you install yourself on an unmanaged VPS, where you manage the server.

Sales practices

Worth a closer look

We check five common sales practices and note them next to the score, without changing it. Two need a pass through checkout, which this scan didn't do. We'll add them on the next recheck.

  • Noticed
"Unlimited" without a stated limit. Hosting, Managed WordPress and VPS plans list unlimited data traffic, and Website Builder plans list unlimited pages. The fair use policy gives no traffic limit, and the terms let one.com close a web space for excessive traffic without a refund.
  • Not checked yet
Add-ons ticked for you at checkout. This scan didn't go through checkout.
  • Not checked yet
Prices that change at the payment step. Plan prices didn't load for our reader, and we didn't see whether VAT is included. We didn't check the final checkout total.
  • Not noticed
Countdown timers that reset. No timers on the pages we read. The UK pages carry a "Get ready for Black Friday" banner.
  • Not noticed
Reviews with no source. The pages show a Trustpilot rating from about 25,400 reviews and a list of dated customer comments. One featured quote names a person and company without saying where it came from.
