Web hosting review

Koyeb

Koyeb is a French serverless platform for web services, workers, Postgres databases and GPUs, billed per second; in Feb 2026 it announced it is joining Mistral AI. Its site clearly explains instance prices, the company behind it, regions and its public status page. A few things were harder to pin down from the website alone: support response times, backups, how to cancel now that the free Starter plan is being removed, and some pricing page numbers that differ from the docs.

Price over time

No intro price, so nothing jumps at renewal

Koyeb shows one price per instance, with no intro discount and no renewal price. Compute is billed by the second with no minimum term, and the plan fee is extra: Pro $29/mo with $10 of compute included. Monthly prices in US dollars from koyeb.com/docs/reference/instances on 21 Oct 2026; the pricing FAQ says prices exclude tax.

What we found

Each finding links to the Koyeb page it came from. Prices are the US-dollar prices on koyeb.com, which the pricing FAQ says exclude tax.

An AI read Koyeb's public pages to write these findings. When something is partly clear or not seen, it may be explained on a page we didn't read, or our scan may have missed it.
Price

Honest pricing

Clear · 10 pts

Koyeb has no intro price and no renewal price: each instance has one hourly and monthly price, billed by the second and settled at the end of each calendar month. The smallest standard instance (0.25 vCPU, 256 MB) is $2.68/mo, on top of a plan fee: Pro is $29/mo with $10 of compute included, Scale $299/mo with $100, and Enterprise starts at $1,000/mo. The pricing FAQ says you're charged in US dollars, that listed prices exclude tax, and that tax is added based on your billing address. A Feb 2026 post says new sign-ups need the Pro plan or higher.

Who runs it

Clear · 10 pts

The Master Services Agreement says you sign with Koyeb, a French simplified joint-stock company (SAS) with share capital of €49,457.54. It gives the registered address as 9 Rue des longs près, 92100 Boulogne-Billancourt, and registration number 850 183 948 at the Nanterre Trade and Commerce Register. The agreement is under French law, with the Paris courts. The About page names Yann Léger as CEO and describes a globally distributed team, and a Feb 2026 post says Koyeb has agreed to join Mistral AI, subject to closing conditions.

Problems

Uptime in public

Clear · 10 pts

A public status page tracks the control panel, API and builds, regional groups for North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, and outside services such as GitHub, Cloudflare and the Docker registry, each with an uptime figure. On 21 Oct 2026 it showed all systems operational. Its history page lists past incidents with times and durations, such as a 24-minute API and control panel outage on 16 Oct 2026. The pricing page promises a 99.9% uptime SLA on Scale and 99.99% on Enterprise; we didn't see an SLA figure for Pro.

People

Reachable support

Partly clear · 5 pts

The pricing page lists email and chat support on Pro, a private Slack channel on Scale, and 24×7×365 priority support on Enterprise. The organizations docs describe Pro support as business hours, and all users can use the community forum. The SLA says response times depend on your subscription and points back to the pricing page. We didn't see response times for any plan, which hours count as business hours, or a phone line.

Price

Fair terms

Partly clear · 5 pts

The agreement runs for an indefinite period with monthly invoices, and section 7.2 says sums paid are not refundable, so there is no money-back period. The pricing page and FAQ say you can cancel at any time and get a prorated credit for unused plan time. Price changes apply at least 30 days after notice, and you can terminate if you reject them. The FAQ says to cancel by switching to the Starter plan, but a Feb 2026 post says Starter is being removed and the pricing page no longer lists it, so we weren't sure of the current steps.

Data

Backups you can use

Partly clear · 5 pts

Section 10.2 of the agreement says Koyeb does not back up your content and that you need to safeguard it yourself. Volumes, from 1 to 10 GB, can be snapshotted by hand from the dashboard, and you restore one yourself by creating a new volume from it. The docs say volumes and snapshots are in public preview and only suitable for testing. We didn't see a snapshot schedule, retention, cost, or backups for the managed Postgres databases on the pages we read.

Data

Security basics

Partly clear · 5 pts

TLS certificates are provisioned automatically for every custom domain, and the pricing FAQ says the first ten custom domains are free. You can turn on two-factor login with an authenticator app, or sign in with a passkey; we didn't see a way for an organization to require it. Local storage is encrypted at rest with AES256, and the Enterprise plan lists ISO 27001 and SOC 2. We didn't see malware scanning or DDoS protection on the pages we read.

Data

Data location

Clear · 10 pts

The docs list six core regions: Frankfurt, Paris, Washington D.C., AWS US East in Virginia, Singapore and Tokyo, plus San Francisco in preview for paid plans. You choose one or more regions when you deploy, and managed Postgres runs only in Frankfurt, Washington D.C. and Singapore. A data processing agreement under the GDPR applies from the start of the main agreement. It says your workloads stay in the region you pick, the control plane runs on Google Cloud in Belgium, and Intercom and Slack process support data in the USA.

Real specs

Partly clear · 5 pts

Every instance lists vCPU, memory and local SSD as numbers next to its price, from 0.25 vCPU, 256 MB and 2.5 GB for $2.68/mo up to 40 vCPU and 128 GB, and GPU instances add VRAM. Some numbers differ between pages: the pricing page includes 1 TB of bandwidth a month with $0.02 per GB above that in the EU and US, while the pricing FAQ gives 100 GB free and $0.04 per GB. Custom domains show as 100 in the plan table and ten free in the FAQ. Paid Postgres storage is shown as "∞", at $0.50 per GB a month, without a stated maximum.

Services deploy from your own Git repository or container image, so your code stays with you. Section 15 of the agreement says Koyeb keeps your content for seven days after the contract ends, includes one export, and charges for further complete exports by quotation. The docs explain how to delete an account or deactivate an organization. We didn't see how to export a Postgres database or copy files off a volume yourself. Koyeb connects domains you already own and we didn't see domain registration, so there is no domain to transfer out.

What you get per plan

vCPU, memory, disk and prices come from the instances docs, and bandwidth from the pricing page. These are three standard CPU instances. Bars compare each row against the largest plan.

Tech stack

Best for Node.js, Python and containers

Hosts are built for different kinds of sites. Here is what Koyeb says it runs, and on which plans. Tech fit is separate from the signal score.

Best fit: tools built for it on regular plansSupported: runs on some plans, with limitsVPS plans: you set it up yourself on a serverNot offered: look at another host

Node.js & Python

Best fit

Node.js 16 to 24 and Python 3.9 to 3.13 build from Git with buildpacks, alongside Go, Ruby, Java and Scala. The docs have quick starts for frameworks such as Next.js, Express, Django, FastAPI and Flask.

Plans: Web services and workers, from $2.68/mo plus the plan fee

Docker & containers

Best fit

Koyeb builds from a Dockerfile in your repo, or deploys a prebuilt image from a public or private registry such as Docker Hub. Images must fit within 5 GB plus the instance's local disk.

Plans: All CPU and GPU instances

PHP

Supported

PHP builds with a buildpack when the repo has a composer.json file, using PHP 8 unless you set a version. The PHP page doesn't mention frameworks or web servers.

Plans: Web services, from $2.68/mo plus the plan fee

Static sites

Supported

There is no separate static hosting product. Koyeb's comparison page says static sites run as web services behind its CDN, and the Astro guide runs the site as a Node.js server.

Plans: Web services, billed like any instance

WordPress

Not offered

We didn't see managed WordPress or a WordPress guide on the pages we read. Volumes for files are in public preview and limited to 10 GB.

Sales practices

Worth a closer look

We check five common sales practices and note them next to the score, without changing it. Two need a pass through checkout, which this scan didn't do. We'll add them on the next recheck.

  • Noticed
"Unlimited" without a stated limit. Storage on paid Postgres tiers is shown as "∞", charged at $0.50 per GB a month, without a stated maximum. "Unlimited" also appears for Enterprise users.
  • Not checked yet
Add-ons ticked for you at checkout. This scan didn't go through checkout. The pricing page lists bandwidth, extra domains and compute as usage charges on top of the plan fee.
  • Not checked yet
Prices that change at the payment step. The pricing FAQ says listed prices exclude tax and tax is added based on your billing address. We didn't check a final invoice.
  • Not noticed
Countdown timers that reset. No timers on the pages we read. Banners announce the Mistral AI news and "up to $30k in credits" for startups.
  • Not noticed
Reviews with no source. The one homepage quote carries a full name and the title Founder; we didn't see the company named in the page text. The pricing page has no quotes.

Questions to ask Koyeb
