Web hosting review

Infomaniak

Infomaniak shows one "from" price per plan with no intro discount, names the company you sign with, keeps a public status page with 60 days of incidents, and explains daily backups you restore yourself. A few things were harder to pin down: support response times, CPU and memory for web hosting, which Swiss cities the data centres are in, and how to export a database. The pages say prices exclude VAT, while the general terms say prices include VAT for customers billed in Switzerland and the EU.

No intro price, so nothing jumps at renewal

Infomaniak shows one "from" price per plan, with no intro discount and no renewal price. Web Hosting is billed annually by default, and Web + Mail needs at least one year paid in advance. Monthly prices in Swiss francs, which the pages say exclude VAT, from infomaniak.com/en/hosting on 21 Oct 2026. What we found

Each finding links to the Infomaniak page it came from. Prices are the Swiss franc (CHF) prices on infomaniak.com/en, which the pages mark as excluding VAT; the general terms say prices include VAT for customers billed in Switzerland and the EU.

An AI read Infomaniak's public pages to write these findings. When something is partly clear or not seen, it may be explained on a page we didn't read, or our scan may have missed it.
Price

Honest pricing

Clear · 10 pts

Hosting pages show one starting price per plan, with no intro discount and no separate renewal price. Web Hosting is from CHF 10.91/mo, Web + Mail from CHF 13.20/mo and Managed Cloud Server from CHF 38.41/mo. Web Hosting is billed annually by default, and the Web + Mail page says payment is made in advance for at least one year. The pages say "Prices do not include VAT", while the general terms say prices include VAT for customers billed in Switzerland and the EU, so the two read differently. The terms let Infomaniak change prices at any time, for new orders and renewals.

People

Who runs it

Clear · 10 pts

The legal notice names Infomaniak Network SA at Rue Eugène-Marziano 25, 1227 Les Acacias (GE), with IDE/VAT number CHE-103.167.648 and Geneva commercial register number CH-660.0.059.996-1. The terms of use name the same company and number and say it is based in Geneva. The About page says Infomaniak was founded in the early 1990s, has its head office in Geneva and a branch in Zurich, and has more than 300 employees. It names the Infomaniak Foundation as the major shareholder.

Problems

Uptime in public

Clear · 10 pts

The footer links to a public status page at infomaniakstatus.com, which shows current events and a 60-day history. When we looked it listed past incidents with dates and durations, such as a web hosting management issue on 29 Sep 2026 that lasted four hours, plus planned maintenance for cloud servers. The status page is in French. Managed Cloud Server terms promise 99.99% availability per month, with credits from 10% up to 50% of the contract, and the web hosting terms don't state an uptime figure.

People

Reachable support

Partly clear · 5 pts

The support page lists phone on weekdays from 9:00 to 18:00, chat on weekdays from 6:00 to 19:00, and email seven days a week from 6:00 to 21:00. Support works from Geneva and Zurich, and the page says monitoring runs 24/7. A paid Premium Support adds 24/7 support and emergency calls, but we didn't see its price. We didn't see stated response times on the pages we read. VPS Lite is unmanaged and doesn't include support for the server or its apps.

Price

Fair terms

Clear · 10 pts

Web Hosting, WordPress hosting and Managed Cloud Server carry a 30-day refund guarantee, and Web Hosting also has a 30-day free trial that needs a credit card. The terms say the guarantee applies to the first order only, and refunds go back to the original payment method within 2 to 4 weeks. Contracts run until cancelled, auto-renewal is on by default, and renewal is attempted 14 days before a product expires. You can cancel at any time from the Manager. After that, there is no pro-rata refund unless Infomaniak is at fault.

Data

Backups you can use

Clear · 10 pts

Web Hosting and Managed Cloud Server include an automatic daily backup with 7 days kept, and the help center says backups are free. You restore a whole hosting, chosen sites or single databases yourself under Restore in the Manager, and single files from a /backups folder over Web FTP. We didn't see a price for restores, or whether email is included. The web hosting page says backups are stored in another data centre. VPS Lite has no snapshots, and VPS Cloud includes one free snapshot.

Data

Security basics

Clear · 10 pts

All hosting plans include a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate and DDoS protection. The account supports two-factor login with the Infomaniak Authenticator app, other code apps, a YubiKey, or SMS in a few countries; we didn't see backup codes. Web Hosting and Managed Cloud Server include virus protection and the Patchman security scanner. The WordPress page says uploaded files are checked in real time and known vulnerabilities are fixed automatically.

Data

Data location

Partly clear · 5 pts

The terms say all customer data is stored only in data centres in Switzerland, and the Managed Cloud Server terms add that Infomaniak owns them. We didn't see the cities of the data centres named, or a choice of location. The legal documents page lists a Data Processing Agreement and an appendix of technical measures, and the trust center says the DPA follows the Swiss FADP and the GDPR. We didn't see how to sign it or a list of sub-processors.

Real specs

Partly clear · 5 pts

The comparison table lists Web Hosting with 250 GB of SSD storage, up to 650 GB, and 20 PHP sites, up to 100. We didn't see CPU or memory for Web Hosting, apart from a PHP memory limit of 640 to 1280 MB. Managed Cloud Server lists 4 to 32 vCPU and 12 to 128 GB RAM. Traffic is "unlimited" on both, and Web + Mail lists unlimited databases and email storage, without a stated limit. The web hosting terms guarantee 100 Mbit/s of bandwidth and allow suspension for use that affects other customers.

Product

Easy exit

Partly clear · 5 pts

Web Hosting includes FTP, SFTP and SSH access to your files, and backups sit in a /backups folder you can open over Web FTP. To move a domain away, you choose "Transfer to another registrar" in the Manager, and the code is emailed to the owner's address. We didn't see a fee for moving a domain away, or a guide to exporting a database on the pages we read. The terms say you must recover your data before a service expires; web hosting is deleted 100 days after the contract ends.

Sales practices

Worth a closer look

We check five common sales practices and note them next to the score, without changing it. Two need a pass through checkout, which this scan didn't do. We'll add them on the next recheck.

  • Noticed
