Web hosting review

Hostinger

Hostinger explains its renewal prices, outages, security basics and data locations clearly. A few things were harder to pin down from the website alone: the legal company you sign with, support response times, and the limits behind "unlimited". Its lowest prices come with a four-year upfront term.

Price over time

Renewal prices are 3 to 4 times the intro price

This is common in hosting, and Hostinger shows both prices on its plan cards. Intro prices need a 48-month term paid upfront. Monthly prices in US dollars, without VAT, from hostinger.com/web-hosting on 19 Oct 2026.

What we found

Each finding links to the Hostinger page it came from. Prices are the US-dollar prices on hostinger.com, without VAT.

An AI read Hostinger's public pages to write these findings. When something is partly clear or not seen, it may be explained on a page we didn't read, or our scan may have missed it.
Price

Honest pricing

Clear · 10 pts

Every plan shows its renewal price right under the intro price. Premium is $2.99/mo and renews at $10.99/mo. The page also says plans are paid upfront and prices exclude VAT. The intro price comes with a 48-month term, so Premium costs $143.52 upfront. On the day we looked, the homepage showed Premium at $2.49/mo under a Black Friday banner, while the hosting page showed $2.99/mo.

People

Who runs it

Partly clear · 5 pts

The About page names the leadership team and lists offices in Vilnius, Kaunas, Luxembourg and Yogyakarta. The legal company is named in the terms: customers in the EU sign with Hostinger International Ltd, registered in Larnaca, Cyprus. We didn't see a company registration number on the pages we read.

Problems

Uptime in public

Clear · 10 pts

A public status page tracks about 100 parts of the service, including each data centre. It lists past incidents and links to a full incident history and 90-day uptime. The terms themselves contain no uptime guarantee and say any guarantee is set out in other documents.

People

Reachable support

Partly clear · 5 pts

Support is offered 24/7 through live chat, WhatsApp and email. Hostinger says it doesn't offer phone support. The chat option on the homepage starts with an AI assistant. We didn't see stated response times, or when a chat moves to a person.

Price

Fair terms

Partly clear · 5 pts

You get 30 days to ask for your money back, and the refund policy lists exactly what is excluded, such as domain renewals and some add-ons. Refunds go back to your original payment method by default. Auto-renewal is on by default, and the renewal charge can come up to 30 days before your term ends. We didn't see a partial refund option after the first 30 days on a multi-year plan.

Data

Backups you can use

Partly clear · 5 pts

Premium gets weekly backups, kept for 6 weeks. The Unlimited plan and up add daily backups, kept for 7 days. You can download your files and databases yourself. We didn't see whether a restore costs extra. Like most hosts, the terms ask you to keep your own backups too.

Data

Security basics

Clear · 10 pts

Every plan includes a free SSL certificate, installed automatically, and malware scanning. Your account supports two-factor login with an authenticator app or email codes.

Data

Data location

Clear · 10 pts

Data centres are named by country, including the Netherlands, Germany, France, Lithuania and the UK, and you choose one when you set up. A GDPR data processing addendum is part of the terms, with EU standard contractual clauses for data sent outside the EEA.

Real specs

Storage is on the pricing page. CPU, memory and file limits are in a help article: Premium gets 1 CPU core, 2 GB of RAM and 400,000 files and folders. Bandwidth is listed as "unlimited" under a fair usage policy, which we didn't find on the pages we read. The pricing page lists unlimited websites on Cloud Startup, and the help article lists 100. The two pages may be describing different things.

Easy exit

Clear · 10 pts

Backups download as standard archive and database files you can take to any host. You can unlock a domain and get its transfer code from the dashboard, with the usual 60-day wait after registration. We didn't see a fee for moving a domain away.

What you get per plan

Sales practices

Worth a closer look

We check five common sales practices and note them next to the score, without changing it. Two need a pass through checkout, which this scan didn't do. We'll add them on the next recheck.

  • Noticed
"Unlimited" without a stated limit. Bandwidth is listed as unlimited under a fair usage policy we didn't find. It may be published somewhere we didn't look.
  • Not checked yet
Add-ons ticked for you at checkout. This scan didn't go through checkout.
  • Not checked yet
Prices that change at the payment step. Listed prices exclude VAT. We didn't check the final checkout total.
  • Not noticed
Countdown timers that reset. No timers on the pages we read. The homepage ran a Black Friday sale banner in mid-October.
  • Not noticed
Reviews with no source. Testimonials carry a name and company. Press logos are shown without quotes or links.
