Each shared and WordPress plan card shows the renewal price under the intro price. Lite is $2.95/mo, pre-paid for 12 months, and renews at $13.95/mo. The terms say prices are in US dollars and don't include taxes, which are billed on the invoice; we didn't see a tax note on the plan cards themselves. Self-managed VPS plans also show renewal prices, while managed VPS shows one monthly price with no term. A help article last updated in March 2021 shows a different term table, with 24- and 36-month prices close to the regular rate.
Web hosting review
GreenGeeks
GreenGeeks shows renewal prices on its plan cards, and its terms and help articles explain refunds, renewals, backups, data centres and how to leave in detail. Harder to pin down were a public status page, a company registration number, and current CPU and memory numbers for shared plans, which we only saw in a help article from 2021. The terms and some help articles describe backups and cancelling a little differently.

Price over time
Shared hosting renews at 3.5 to 4.7 times the intro price
This is common in hosting, and GreenGeeks shows both prices on its plan cards. Intro prices need a 12-month term paid upfront. Monthly prices in US dollars, without tax, from greengeeks.com/shared-hosting and greengeeks.com/pricing on 20 Oct 2026.
Assumes the listed $13.95/mo renewal price for 12 months. Actual renewal prices and terms may change.

What we found
Each finding links to the GreenGeeks page it came from. Prices are the US-dollar prices on greengeeks.com, without tax, which the terms say is added to the invoice.
The contact page and privacy policy name GreenGeeks LLC, with a postal address at 1401 Pennsylvania Ave, Suite 105, Wilmington, Delaware. The terms refer to "GreenGeeks.com" and are governed by Delaware law. The About page says Trey Gardner founded GreenGeeks in 2008 and is its CEO, and that the company is founder-led and independently operated. It says GreenGeeks is headquartered in the United States, without naming a city. We didn't see a company registration number on the pages we read.
We didn't see a public status page or a list of past incidents on the pages we read. A search for one led to a dashboard page that needs JavaScript and showed no status. The terms promise 99.9% network uptime for GreenGeeks servers and its primary internet connection. A help article gives credits of 1x the hourly rate for scheduled maintenance and 3x for unscheduled outages, if you ask within seven days. VPS and dedicated servers only get credits for network outages.
Support is available 24/7 by live chat, phone and support ticket. The homepage chat box says the average reply comes in under 2 minutes, and the contact page lists a toll-free number, 1-877-326-7483. Support is in English only. Billing questions and VPS support go through tickets only, and the help center says most escalated requests are resolved within 24 to 48 hours.
Shared, reseller and VPS hosting get a full refund of hosting charges if you cancel within 30 days. Setup fees, domains, add-ons and dedicated servers are excluded, and the domain fee is taken off the refund. After 30 days the terms say no refunds are given, and a help article says renewal charges aren't refunded. Plans renew automatically at the then-current renewal fee, with email reminders 15 to 30 days ahead, and the terms ask you to turn off auto-renew at least 5 business days before. The help center says you cancel in the dashboard and confirm by email, while the terms, last updated on 9 Nov 2022, say to contact customer service.
Shared and reseller accounts are backed up: the platform page says nightly, and the backup policy says GreenGeeks aims to keep about 30 sets. Pro and Premium customers can restore by themselves; others get one free restore a month, then $25 per restore. You can make and download your own backups in cPanel for accounts under 10 GB, and a full backup made by GreenGeeks costs $5 per cPanel account. VPS and dedicated servers aren't backed up automatically. The terms say a copy is kept for 24 hours for disaster recovery only, which reads differently from the help article.
Shared plans include free Let's Encrypt SSL certificates that are set up and renewed automatically. Two-factor login for the account works with an authenticator app, with recovery codes in case you lose your phone. The platform page describes real-time malware scanning of changed files and per-account isolation. Each hosting account includes one free malware cleanup, and the shared page says restrictions may apply.
The data centre page names four locations: Chicago, Montreal, Amsterdam and Singapore, each marked as available for all. It says you choose where your hosting is set up, and the migration policy says moving an existing account to another location costs a one-time $29.95. A Data Processing Agreement is linked from the legal page and applies through the terms. It names GreenGeeks as processor and includes the EU standard contractual clauses from 2010. The privacy policy says GreenGeeks' own customer data is held on servers in the United States.
Shared plan cards list storage, websites and "unmetered" traffic only. Lite has 25 GB and 1 website. A help article last updated in March 2021 lists 2 to 4 CPU cores, 1 to 3 GB memory and 200,000 to 600,000 inodes per plan, but we couldn't tell if these numbers are still current. Pro and Premium list unlimited websites. The terms say there are no set limits on disk space and bandwidth, but accounts using 100% of their allocated resources are slowed down. VPS plans list vCPU, RAM and SSD: the self-managed VPS 4GB has 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM and 80 GB SSD.
For accounts under 10 GB, you can download a full account backup from cPanel. Larger accounts copy files over FTP and export databases as .sql files in phpMyAdmin, or pay $5 per cPanel account for GreenGeeks to make the backup. To move a domain away, you turn off Registrar Lock and ID Protect in the dashboard and send the EPP code to the registrant email, with the usual 60-day wait after registration or a transfer. We didn't see a fee for moving a domain away. The terms say files are removed any time after you ask to cancel, so you need to download them first.
What you get per plan
Storage, websites and traffic come from the shared hosting page. CPU, memory and inodes come from a GreenGeeks help article last updated in March 2021, so they may have changed. Bars compare each row against the largest plan.

Tech stack
Best for WordPress and PHP sites
Hosts are built for different kinds of sites. Here is what GreenGeeks says it runs, and on which plans. Tech fit is separate from the signal score.
WordPress
Best fitWordPress hosting runs on the same shared platform, with LiteSpeed caching, staging, SSH, Git and WP-CLI, and free migration. The WordPress FAQ says all its WordPress benefits are included in the shared plans.
Plans: All shared plansPHP
Best fitShared and reseller servers offer PHP 5.2 up to 8.5, with 8.4 as the default for new accounts. Shell (SSH) access is switched on by opening a support ticket.
Plans: All shared and reseller plansNode.js
SupportedNode.js apps run on Pro and Premium, set up in the control panel with a choice of Node.js version. The help center calls this limited support: GreenGeeks can't help configure, debug or deploy Node.js apps. Managed VPS offers a single Node.js version.
Plans: Pro, Premium and Managed VPSPython
SupportedThe shared hosting page lists the latest versions of Perl and Python, and the Node.js page describes Pro as including Node.js and Python support. We didn't see a Python setup guide or Django or Flask support in the help center.
Plans: Shared plans, Pro named for appsDocker & containers
VPS plansSelf-managed VPS plans give full root access, and GreenGeeks sells them through "VPS Docker Hosting" app pages. The smallest has 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM and 80 GB SSD, from $9.99/mo renewing at $19.99/mo. GreenGeeks tutorials install Docker yourself on the server.
Plans: Self-managed VPS, from VPS 4GBSales practices
Worth a closer look
We check five common sales practices and note them next to the score, without changing it. Two need a pass through checkout, which this scan didn't do. We'll add them on the next recheck.
- Noticed"Unlimited" without a stated limit. Pro and Premium list unlimited websites, and every shared plan lists unmetered traffic. The terms say accounts are slowed down at 100% of their allocated resources, but the plan pages give no number. It may be published somewhere we didn't look.
- Not checked yetAdd-ons ticked for you at checkout. This scan didn't go through checkout.
- Not checked yetPrices that change at the payment step. The terms say listed prices exclude taxes, which are billed on the invoice. We didn't check the final checkout total.
- Not noticedCountdown timers that reset. No timers on the pages we read. Plan cards carry "Special Price" and "Save 79%" style labels, without an end date.
- Not noticedReviews with no source. The reviews page shows Trustpilot reviews with names and dates, each linked to Trustpilot. Four customer stories link to GreenGeeks case studies instead.
Questions to ask GreenGeeks
Each partly clear or unseen signal leaves a question that the website didn't answer for us. GreenGeeks's support can probably answer them before you buy.

This report covers what GreenGeeks publishes, as read by an AI. It can miss things or misread a page. We didn't host a test site, so it says nothing about real speed or how helpful support feels.
