Web hosting review

Atlantic.Net

Atlantic.Net sells cloud servers, dedicated servers and HIPAA-compliant hosting, billed hourly or monthly. Its site clearly explains cloud plan specs and prices, its 100% uptime SLA with a public status page and incident history, and how daily backups work and what they cost. A few things were harder to pin down from the website alone: refunds, support response times, a data processing agreement for EU customers, prices for the standard dedicated servers, and how to take your data with you.

Price over time

No intro price, so nothing jumps at renewal

Atlantic.Net shows one on-demand price per cloud plan, with no intro discount; 1-year and 3-year terms cost less. On-demand servers are billed hourly and capped at the monthly price, with no minimum term. Monthly on-demand Linux prices in US dollars, with tax added where it applies, from atlantic.net/cloud-platform on 21 Oct 2026.

What we found

Each finding links to the Atlantic.Net page it came from. Prices are the US-dollar prices on atlantic.net; the terms say taxes are charged on top where they apply.

An AI read Atlantic.Net's public pages to write these findings. When something is partly clear or not seen, it may be explained on a page we didn't read, or our scan may have missed it.
Price

Honest pricing

Partly clear · 5 pts

Cloud servers have no intro price: the on-demand price is what you keep paying. The smallest General Purpose plan, G3.2GB, is $10/mo on Linux, or $9/mo on a 1-year and $8/mo on a 3-year term. Hourly billing is the monthly price divided by 672 hours, capped at the monthly price. Extra outbound transfer costs $0.02 per GB and daily backups add 20% of the server price. The pricing pages don't mention tax; the cloud terms say prices are in US dollars and you pay any tax Atlantic.Net must collect. We didn't see prices for the Standard, Business and Enterprise dedicated servers, or what a 1-year or 3-year term renews at.

People

Who runs it

Partly clear · 5 pts

The cloud terms say you sign with Atlantic.Net, Inc., a Delaware corporation, and send legal notices to 3208 E. Colonial Drive #451, Orlando, Florida. The privacy policy names the same company and address. The About page says the company started in 1994 in Gainesville, Florida, and names Marty Puranik as founder and CEO. We didn't see a company registration number on the pages we read, or a separate company for EU customers.

Problems

Uptime in public

Clear · 10 pts

A public status page tracks 8 data centre regions and 9 services, including cloud servers, DNS and the support portal. It lists each day with any incidents, and its history feed shows 25 items since March 2026, 5 of them incidents, such as a network outage in Dallas on 1 May 2026. The cloud SLA promises 100% network, hardware and power availability each month, excluding scheduled maintenance. Credits are 5% of the monthly fee for each extra 30 minutes of network downtime past the first 30 minutes, up to 100%, claimed by email within 30 days.

People

Reachable support

Partly clear · 5 pts

The support page says technical support is available 24/7/365 by phone (866-618-3282, or +1-408-335-0825 internationally) and by email, with separate addresses for cloud, dedicated servers, shared hosting and colocation. Billing is open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm Eastern. We didn't see live chat, a ticket system or stated response times on the pages we read. Server management and other managed services are sold separately.

Price

Fair terms

Partly clear · 5 pts

The cloud terms say orders renew automatically for the same term, one month if no term is set, and you cancel through the non-renewal process in the cloud control panel. SLA credits are applied to fees and not paid out as refunds. Prices on monthly terms can rise with 30 days' written notice. The hosting agreement for dedicated servers needs 30 days' notice before the term ends and makes the rest of the term due if you leave early. We didn't see a money-back period or a general refund policy on the pages we read.

Data

Backups you can use

Clear · 10 pts

Cloud server backups are a paid add-on you switch on yourself in the control panel. A help article says backups run daily and are kept for 30 days, at 20% of the server price; the plan pages add a $1/mo minimum. The backups page says file-level and full-server restores are included at no extra cost, and you start restores from the control panel. Manual snapshots cost $0.05 per GB a month. The Fortress and HIPAA plans include daily on-site and off-site backups.

Data

Security basics

Partly clear · 5 pts

The cloud control panel offers two-step login with a code by text message or an authenticator app. The HIPAA and Fortress plans include a managed firewall, multi-factor authentication for servers and Trend Micro security software. On the regular cloud servers, Trend Micro and managed MFA are separate paid services. We didn't see free SSL certificates or malware scanning included with the regular cloud servers on the pages we read.

Data

Data location

Partly clear · 5 pts

The data centres page names 8 locations: New York, Ashburn, Orlando, Dallas and San Francisco in the USA, Toronto, London and Singapore, with Amsterdam coming soon. The cloud page says all plans are available in every location. The privacy policy mentions the GDPR and says Atlantic.Net, Inc. takes part in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. We didn't see a data processing agreement for customer data on the pages we read.

Real specs

Partly clear · 5 pts

Every cloud plan lists RAM, vCPUs, SSD storage and monthly outbound transfer as numbers; G3.2GB has 1 vCPU, 2GB RAM, 50GB SSD and 3TB of transfer. Dedicated servers list the CPU model, cores, RAM, disks, RAID level and 20TB of transfer. The cloud and dedicated pages also promise "unlimited" inbound bandwidth, and the VPS page mentions unlimited domains and email addresses, without a stated limit.

Product

Easy exit

Partly clear · 5 pts

You cancel cloud services through the non-renewal process in the control panel, and we didn't see a fee for leaving. The cloud terms say you lose access to your data after termination, so you need to copy it off first. Snapshots can be moved between Atlantic.Net locations, but we didn't see a way to download a backup or snapshot. Domains are registered through Tucows, and the registration agreement doesn't describe the transfer-out steps.

Tech stack

Best for self-managed cloud and dedicated servers

Hosts are built for different kinds of sites. Here is what Atlantic.Net says it runs, and on which products. Tech fit is separate from the signal score.

Best fit: tools built for it on regular plansSupported: runs on some plans, with limitsVPS plans: you set it up yourself on a server

WordPress

VPS plans

WordPress VPS hosting is a one-click WordPress image on a LAMP stack, on a cloud server you manage yourself with root access. Full management is a separate add-on. HIPAA WordPress hosting runs WordPress on a managed server from $605.11/mo on a 12-month term.

Plans: Cloud servers, from $10/mo

PHP

VPS plans

One-click LAMP and LEMP images on Ubuntu 24.04 set up PHP with Apache or Nginx and MySQL. A cPanel/WHM image is also offered, with cPanel licences from $23/mo.

Plans: Cloud servers

Sales practices

Worth a closer look

We check five common sales practices and note them next to the score, without changing it. Two need a pass through checkout, which this scan didn't do. We'll add them on the next recheck.

  • Noticed
"Unlimited" without a stated limit. Cloud and dedicated pages promise "unlimited" inbound bandwidth, and the VPS page mentions unlimited domains and email addresses. Outbound transfer is listed as a number per plan, with an overage rate.
  • Not checked yet
Add-ons ticked for you at checkout. This scan didn't go through checkout. A help article describes backups as an option you tick yourself when adding a server.
  • Not checked yet
Prices that change at the payment step. The pricing pages don't mention tax, and the terms say tax is added where Atlantic.Net must collect it. We didn't check a final invoice.
  • Not noticed
Countdown timers that reset. No timers or sale banners on the pages we read.
  • Not noticed
Reviews with no source. The homepage quotes carry a full name, job title and company, such as staff at the Orlando Magic, NVIDIA and Microsoft.
